CLIP terminal
Enhancing efficiency with slab track technology.

In 2020, Stabirail partnered with Samax Rail at the CLIP terminal in Poznan, Poland, to construct a state-of-the-art rail system for their automated rail-mounted gantry (ARMG) cranes. As a key logistics hub in Central Europe, CLIP terminal required a solution that would support high-capacity operations while minimizing maintenance and downtime.
The challenge
The project demanded a flat, stable surface capable of supporting ARMG cranes over a 1 km track length. The solution needed to ensure:
- Precise track alignment for automated crane operations
- Long-term durability under heavy loads
- Minimal maintenance to maximize operational uptime
Additionally, working within the operational environment of a busy terminal required efficient construction processes with minimal disruption.
The solution
Stabirail implemented its bottom-up slab track technology, delivering unmatched precision and reliability. The approach included:
- Precision concrete milling: using advanced 2D milling technology, creating an ultra-flat floor surface with accuracy within 2mm, critical for ARMG operations.
The results
The project was completed on time and within budget, delivering immediate operational benefits:
- Seamless crane operations: the ultra-flat floor surface provided stable and smooth movement for ARMG cranes, optimizing container handling efficiency.
- Low maintenance requirements: the bottom-up slab track design reduced wear and minimized maintenance downtime.
- Long-term durability: the track system was engineered to handle heavy loads and continuous use, ensuring reliability for years to come.
Added value
Stabirail’s technology provided significant advantages over traditional track construction methods:
- Operational efficiency: ultra-flat tracks optimized ARMG crane movements, reducing container handling times.
- Sustainability: the durable construction reduced long-term material waste and maintenance costs.
- Precision and reliability: ddvanced technology ensured millimeter-accurate installation, vital for automated operations.
The success of this project has positioned CLIP terminal as a leader in efficient and automated intermodal logistics in Central Europe.
