In 2024, Stabirail partnered with Strukton Rail to undertake an ambitious intercity rail renovation project in Amsterdam. As the national railway infrastructure manager for the Netherlands, ProRail oversees a vast and intricate network, making this renovation a critical task to ensure seamless and efficient train operations.

The challenge

The project aimed to renovate and enhance a heavily utilized intercity rail section. This included:

Removing 25,880 existing rail anchors.
Drilling precise holes for new anchors.
Installing 25,880 new anchors with industry-leading accuracy.

The challenge lay in executing these tasks within a tight timeline to minimize disruptions to rail traffic. The work had to be completed over just five weekends, leaving no room for delays or errors.

The solution

Stabirail’s patented drilling train provided the perfect solution for this high-stakes project. Our approach included:

Anchor removal: using specialized equipment, we safely and efficiently removed the existing anchors without damaging the concrete foundation.
Precision drilling: our diamond-core drilling technology ensured exact positioning of the new anchor points with minimal vibration and dust, a critical factor in an urban environment like Amsterdam.
New anchor installation: each anchor was installed with millimeter accuracy, leveraging our advanced machinery and two-component adhesive injection system to guarantee stability and durability.
Efficient execution: by mobilizing a highly skilled team and utilizing simultaneous work efficiencies, we completed each phase of the project within the allotted weekends.
